In practice
Mr Munasinghe is a Consultant General Laparoscopic Surgeon, with a special interest in Upper GI and Weight Loss Surgery. He has an NHS base at Bedfordshire Hospitals, where he is the Clinical Lead for Safety and Clinical Governance, and the welfare of his patients is at the heart of all of his practice. He offers a large range of common general surgical procedures, performed through a keyhole route wherever possible to minimise pain and enable a faster recovery. His main areas of interest are in the treatment of obesity, reflux disease, gallstones and hernia, and he is happy to see patients of varying complexity, for both primary and revision (redo) procedures.
Research and publications
Mr Munasinghe qualified from Guy’s & St Thomas’s Hospital and has enjoyed outstanding postgraduate training in London, the South East and the West Midlands. He undertook a period of research at Imperial College London and a fellowship in Bariatric and Complex Upper GI Surgery at St George’s Hospital, London. In addition to maintaining high standards in his NHS and private practice, he is also a passionate educator and is a trainer in Bariatric Surgery, Keyhole Hernia Repair, Trauma and Endoscopy.
